Peter Tassiopoulos, President at Sphere 3D
Peter Tassiopoulos's Bio:
Peter Tassiopoulos has led virtualization technology solutions provider Sphere 3D since 2013. With more than 20 years of experience in a variety of industries, including technology, finance, business development and sales management, Peter has built global distribution networks and marketing alliances in telecom, IT, software and hardware manufacturing.
For the past several years, Peter has spent most of his time introducing the world to Sphere 3D’s primary product: Glassware 2.0™, a process he says has been both challenging and rewarding. Challenging because the product is not easy to explain, but rewarding, in that it is ground-breaking and can be customized for a number of specialty areas, such as education and healthcare.
Glassware 2.0™ is an application virtualization tool, using a container-based approach to give users access to virtual Windows apps hosted on a shared server. With this technology, IT administrators can deliver a single app rather than a complete desktop. For example, if an app requires Windows XP but the user runs Windows 10, administrators can deliver the app and the necessary components to the Windows 10 device, rather than distributing a full desktop.
Glassware 2.0™ makes it possible for incompatible devices and applications to run over the cloud, without sacrificing performance or security. The technology lets third parties deliver fully-featured products to any cloud-connected device no matter its operating systems or hardware. In 2014, Sphere 3D completed a $70 million acquisition of Overland-Tandberg, and Peter opted to remain as President and Vice Chairman of the newly-merged company.
Before his time leading Sphere 3D, Peter Tassiopoulos held leadership positions at companies in the technology and healthcare IT industry space. He was an original founder and CEO for IgeaCare Systems from 2003 to 2008 and expanded the business from four employees to more than 120 staff members, with sales growing to around $20 million annually under his guidance.
Peter also held the position of COO at Biosign Technologies, creating and managing the overall strategy and direction of the company, including strategic planning, marketing and sales, operations, and research and development.
In addition to his executive career, Peter has acted as an advisor for a number of companies in the technology, IT, mining and gaming industries. He has led numerous M&A transactions and helped raise in excess of $200 million of start-up capital for organizations, from early seed rounds through to senior lending facilities.
